Arthur Hilton Winters

Winters Jonesville - Mr. Arthur Hilton Winters, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend went home to be with the Lord Sunday March 11, 2012. Mr. Winters was born on March 7, 1926. He was preceded in death by his mother Laura Swaim Winters, father Franklin Martin Winters, sisters Pearl Evans and Gaynelle Lewis, brothers Marvin, Odell, John, Clete and Thad Winters. He was married to his loving wife Lois Weatherman Winters on March 23, 1945 who survives of the home, one daughter Carol (Bennie) Benge, one son Harold (Ruth) Winters, three grandchildren Jason Benge, Kristen Benge and Ashley Winters, two great-grandchildren Jayden Benge and Ethan Benge, two sisters Ethel Weatherman and Hattie Brown, three step-grandchildren Melony Randleman, Stephanie Gregory, Randall Gregory, four step great-grandchildren Jessica Holloway, Megan Holcomb, Tanner Holcomb and Faith Randleman, one step great-great grandchild, Ryan Poteat. Mr. Winters was a lifelong farmer and served in World War II. He loved Yadkin County and served several terms as a county commissioner. The family will receive friends at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville on Tuesday, March 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and his funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 14 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Boonville by the Rev. Paul Stewart, the Rev. Spencer King, and Josh Baity. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family would like to thank Yadkin Nursing Care Center, Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, Dr. Garrison, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and their Palliative Care Unit for their many acts of kindness.
