Edison Thomas Matthews

Mr. Edison Thomas Matthews. 89, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2012 at his home. Mr. Matthews was born on December 11, 1922 in Yadkin County to the late W.M. and Belle Hutchens Matthews. He was the oldest male member of Mt. Carmel Church where he enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. In his life he had accomplished many things such as traveling all 50 states with his beloved wife Marian and owning his business in California. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Meza and two beautiful granddaughters, Jennifer and Yvonne Matthews. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marian Matthews; two sons Thomas Matthews, William (Ann) Matthews, one daughter, Jeanette (Ron) Peck and son-in-law mike Meza. Seven grandchildren, Anthony (Mallory) Meza, Andre Meza, Dorothy Hauser, William Porky (Ria) Matthews, John (Myranda) Peck, Rebecca (William) Keene, Anthony Peck, ten great grandchildren, two sisters Lilly Spencer and Ruby Vestal, two brothers John Matthews and Alfred Matthews. The family will receive friends from 9-10 AM Monday March 5, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Friends Church. His funeral will be conducted at 10:00 AM following the visitation at Mt. Carmel Friends Church by the Rev. Jeff Farmer. Burial will follow in the Matthews Williams Family Cemetery.
