Zula Mae Johnston Mitchell

Mitchell Advance- Mrs. Zula Mae Johnston Mitchell, 81, formerly of Newport, NC, and Blessing TX passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She had been living in Advance with her son, Pat Mitchell for the past few years. Mrs. Mitchell was born April 20, 1930 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late George and Nora Tyler Johnston. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker for her family. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her children and grandchildren. Her family was the most important thing to her and she loved each of them unconditionally. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William O. Mitchell, Jr. on February 4, 2008, by her daughter, Phyllis Ann Mitchell, and by 5 brothers. Surviving are her children, Brenda (Terry) Hammonds, Dunden, Fla.; Michael (Charlene) Mitchell, Ft. Worth, TX; Mary Ginni (C.L.) Morrow, Blessing, TX; A. Patrick Pat (Michelle) Mitchell, Advance, NC; grandchildren, Mitchell McKenzie, William O. Mitchell, III, Max Anthony Culpepper, Jeff Alan Mitchell, Terry Ann Duhamel, Lauren Elizabeth (Joseph) Sikes, Alex Thomas Mitchell; and 12 Great-Grandchildren, whom she adored. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Kenny Gooden. The family will receive friends following the service at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A graveside service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2012 at East Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kate B.
