Gary V. Wooten

Our beloved, Gary Wooten, age 54, after a courageous battle with cancer, went home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2012. He was a devoted and loving husband to Katherine Stanley Wooten, formerly from Surry County and the son of E. V. And Betty Wooten of Forbush Rd, who survive of East Bend. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Ray Shore of Tobaccoville, whose loving relationship was marked by her commitment to his care during his illness. Also surviving are several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Gary was an active member of Forbush Friends Meeting where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and on various other committees with a deep and sincere love for his church family. Gary was employed with R. J. Reynolds for 32+ years. He was also a member of Fall Creek Fire Dept. where he had served as President and Director. His true passions were farming and auctioneering. He was an auctioneer for Rogers Realty and Auction Company with whom he enjoyed many years of great camaraderie and sales. Being a part-time farmer, Gary was often known for saying "tractors are green (John Deere) and trucks are red." Gary was a lover of the land and enjoyed God's creations to the fullest. Gary was blessed with a very large extended family whom he dearly loved. He loved everybody and was loved by all who knew him. The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 - 7:00pm on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral Services in Yadkinville, NC. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the 11:00am service Monday at Forbush Friends Meeting, Forbush Rd., East Bend, NC with Rev. Andy Lambert, officiating. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice in Yadkinville for their loving support and care. The family would also like to thank the many family members, friends and church family for their tremendous support, loving prayers and compassion. Flowers will be accepted and memorials can be made to the Family Life Center at Forbush Friends Meeting c/o Mary Wooten, 2821 Mill Hill Road, East Bend, NC 27018 and Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055.
