Casstevens Boonville - Philip Green Casstevens, 85, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 due to an extended illness. He was born March 30, 1927 in Yadkin County to the late Rufus McKinley and Minnie Holcomb Casstevens. Mr. Casstevens was the owner of Casstevens Hardware for 41 years. He was a member of Marler Road Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and the Merchant Marines for 2 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Mary C. Casstevens; brother, Allen Casstevens. Surviving are his wife, Mildred M Casstevens; step daughter, Cynthia M. (Cotton) Harris; step grandchildren, Patrick Harris, Megan (Michael) Kennedy; step great grandchildren, Ally and Erin Kennedy; daughters, Phyllis C. (John) Smith, Lynn C. (Alan) Mullen; grandchildren, Veronica, Olivia, Zachary, Nicholas, Alexander Mullen; brother, Roy (Nannie) Casstevens; sister-in-law, Wanda (Sandy) Hagood; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Marler Road Baptist Church. His funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, at Marler Road Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Johnson. Burial will follow at Mitchell's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
