Modis Templeton, 83, of Union Grove, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He was born February 6, 1929 to the late Lehmon and Etta Nicholson Templeton. Modis was preceded in death by two wives: Fern Wells in 1983 and Nell Pardue in 2008. He was also preceded in death by siblings: Phillip Templeton, Panthea Harris, Flannie Johnson and Lucille Cook, Elva Gregory. Surviving are his daughter, Janice(Joe) Wilhelm of Durango, Colorado, stepdaughter, Gilda Hodges of Yadkinville, step grandson, Adam(Ginny) Myers of Union Grove, and step granddaughter, Megan Myers Yadkinville. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Aiden and Jayden Myers. Also surviving are a brother, Enoch (Mae) Templeton of Elkin and a sister, Emolene Myers, of Pfafftown and numerous nieces and nephews. Modis was a member of Old Fashion Gospel Church in Hamptonville. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Modis could entertain for hours with stories about his childhood growing up on the farm and his military service adventures. A more pleasant personality could not be found than the one Modis displayed on an everyday basis. He loved his family and especially his daughter, Janice, whom he loved to visit in Colorado and Arizona. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Old Fashion Gospel Church in Hamptonville with Rev. Bob Edwards and Rev. Jack Cook officiating.
