Hamptonville Mrs. Eloise Brown Gardner, 83, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Gardner was born February 13, 1929 in Yadkin County to Melton and Hannah Stokes Brown. She was a member of Temple Hill United Methodist Church, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer of the Women's Society. Mrs. Gardner was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde (Velma) Brown, Lonnie (Lois) Brown, and Alvis "Shorty" (Vernell) Brown; and a brother-in-law, Frankie Swaim. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Rubin Gardner; a son, Ricky (Sissy) Gardner; a daughter, Judy (Michael) Matthews; a granddaughter, Melissa (Tim) Bennett; two sisters, Pauline (Franklin) Joyner and Grace Swaim; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 2:00PM at Temple Hill UMC with Rev. Mike Fongemy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Hill UMC, 172 Captain Day Rd, Ronda, NC 28670.
