Annie Ruth Shermer Eslinger

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Annie Ruth Eslinger passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012. Mrs. Eslinger was born May 13, 1922 in Yadkin County to Robert Reid and Mattie Eaton Shermer. She was a member of Forbush Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and cooked for many church events. Known for her generosity in providing food for many families and friends, Ruth delighted working in her kitchen and garden. In 1985 she retired from A T & T. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Eslinger, and grandson Robert Reid Kent. She is survived by her son, Robert D. Kent and wife Donna, grandchildren Josh, Meghan and Jeannie, and great-grandchildren Sheena, Kristi, and Aurora; son Geary Kent and wife Bonnie, grandchildren Amy, Sandra and Amanda Gail, and great-grandchildren, Grace, Sarah Beth, Madeleine, Katherine, Hannah and Lacey. Also surviving are nieces Veda Shermer, Paula Honaker, and nephew Brandon Shermer. Visitation will be at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville on Tue, June 19 from 6 pm to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11am at Forbush Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Souther officiating.
