Rev. Spencer Gray King, Sr.

King Boonville - Rev. Spencer Gray King, Sr., 69, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born August 26, 1942 in Yadkin County to the late Miles Isom King and Nelia Porter King. Spencer pastored at Old Fashion Baptist and Calvary Baptist. He then founded and pastored Victory Chapel Baptist Church for 39 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife Ruth Nicks King; children, Spencer Gray King, Jr., Jennifer King (Chris) Chatham; grandchildren, which was his pride and joy, Jordan, Kristian, and Sarah Chatham; sisters, Hazel Royal, Minnie (Charles) Hemrick, Angie (Clarence) Mook; brother, Fred (Dorothy) King; close family friend, Fernando Delgadillo. His funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at Victory Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Don Collins and the Rev. Barlow Stanley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, which is serving the King family.
