Mitty Pearl Poindexter

Mrs. Pearl Walker Poindexter, 81, passed away Thursday July 12, 2012 at home in Yadkin County. Pearl was born in Davie County on February 17, 1931 the daughter of the late Eddie G. & Lula T. Walker. She worked many years at Courtney Elementary School Cafeteria in Yadkin County retiring at age 76. She was a wonderful cook and was known throughout the community for her delicious sourdough bread. She was preceded in death by her sisters Mildred Latham, Ailene Cartner, Pauline Sink, Janie Koontz; brothers Johnny Walker, Ed S. Walker, James K. Walker, Sam N. Walker and cherished son Frank Donald "Donnie" Poindexter III. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Frank Donald Poindexter, Jr.; two daughters Pam (Gene) Renegar, Janice (Phil) Quick; a son Philip (Shannon) Poindexter; five grandchildren, Beth R. (Ben) Sunderman, Drew (Codi) Renegar, Chase Poindexter, Morgan Poindexter, and Brady Poindexter; step-granddaughter Janel (Eddie) Cook; great grandchildren Allie Ann and Emery Sunderman, and Jaxon Renegar; step great-grandchild Ryan Cook; two sisters Betty Grissom, Gail (Jimmy) Kelly; a brother Jack E. (Doris) Walker; two sisters-in-law Ruth Walker and Carman Walker. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday July 14, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 PM Sunday July 15, 2012 at Huntsville Baptist Church Cemetery by Layman Joe Cartner. The family would like to say a very special thank you to the care givers Robin Brawley, Linda Dunlevy, and Ann Johnson also the Hospice and Palliative Care Center for all the loving care given to Mrs. Poindexter.
