Mr. Thomas Tulbert Jarvis, 88, of Farmington Road passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born October 26, 1923 in Farmington, NC to the late Enoch Clyde and Mary Edward Leagans Jarvis. Mr. Jarvis was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army, along with 3 of his brothers. He was a former member of Farmington Volunteer Fire Department and retired from Duke Power Company with 32 years of service. He was a member of Jonestown Baptist Church and served the church for several years as a Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon. Mr. Jarvis enjoyed watching NASCAR, was a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and he always loved a doughnut from Krispy Kreme. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ruth Hauser Jarvis, in 2003; his son, Thomas Michael Jarvis, in 1992; brothers, Lester Clyde Jarvis, Paul Franklin Jarvis, James Edward Jarvis, David Zachary Jarvis; and his two sisters, Camilla Jane Jarvis Allen and Mary Helena Jarvis Boger. Surviving are his devoted daughter and caregiver, with whom he lived, Elaine Jarvis York, and his son-in-law, William Thomas York, of the Huntsville Community; granddaughters, Shannon York (Philip) Poindexter, Andrea York (Craig) Murphy, all of the Huntsville Community; grandson, Heath Jarvis, Advance; great-grandchildren, Chase, Morgan, and Brady Poindexter, Olivia and Owen Murphy, Haily Jarvis; his aunt, Dorothy Leagans Marx of LaCrosse and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His graveside service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Forsyth Memorial Park by Bob Tannehill, and Full Military Honors will be given by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. They will receive friends immediately following the graveside service in the cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to Ann Johnson for all the kindness and loving care given to Mr. Jarvis.
