Bessie Lee Smith

Mrs. Bessie Lee Smith, 75, of North Bridge Street, Elkin passed away Thursday, August 02, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker to her family. She had been attending Good Shepherd Outreach in Jonesville as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lorraine Spears, and by several brothers and sisters. Surviving are her husband of 33 years, Roland Smith of Elkin; her children, Wanda Shavers and husband, Johnny; Janet Brooks and her husband, Kevin; Jerry Ennis, all of Virginia; Jimmy Smith and wife, Brandy, Hamptonville; Anne Casstevens, and husband, Greg of Elkin; several grandchildren, including, John Cody Smith, Larry Allen Smith, and Megan Nichole Casstevens; several great-grandchildren, a step-son, David Smith and wife, Patty; and step-grandchildren, Stephen and Aaron Smith. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel. Burial will follow in the White Rock Cemetery on Haystack Road in Thurmond.
