Roxie Davis Hobson

April 19, 1917 — August 6, 2012

East Bend Mrs. Roxie Jane Davis Hobson, 95, went to her Heavenly home Monday, August 06, 2012. Mrs. Hobson was the fifth child born to Jesse and Wilda Lineberry Davis. She had twelve brothers and sisters. Mrs. Hobson was the oldest member of Forbush Friends Meeting, where she served as former Sunday school teacher and Elder. She loved attending church until her health failed. Mrs. Hobson graduated from East Bend High School and was a homemaker and lived on the farm most of her life. She also worked at Hunter Publishing Co. and Bassick Sack. Mrs. Hobson was an excellent seamstress and loved quilting, crocheting, canning, and cooking for her family. She enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels in East Bend for several years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hobson was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hobson; a grandson, Royce Driver; a son-in-law, Grady Driver; and siblings, Blanche Carter, Clyde Davis, Lewis Davis, Sadie Wooten, Maye Jarvis, Pearl Carter, and twin boys who died at birth. She is survived by her three children, Brenda (Phil) Lineberry, Cora Lee Driver, and Leroy (Kathy) Hobson; grandchildren, Shane (Alicia) Driver, Misty (Nathan) Key, and Andrea (Jason) Wohlgemuth; great grandchildren, John, Alana, and Jake Driver, and Landon Key; sisters, Edith Carter, Faye Brown, Laura Ruth (Page) Wall, and Jessie Raye (Jimmie) Smitherman; sister-in-law, Miriam Hobson; special friend, Doris Foster; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 3:00PM at Forbush Friends Meeting with Rev. Andy Lambert and Rev. Jake Penley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Wednesday evening at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Memorials may be made to Forbush Friends Meeting Family Life Center Fund, c/o Mary Wooten, 2821 Mill Hill Road, East Bend, NC 27018 or to the donor's choice. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Vienna Village and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their kind and loving care. .
