Esteen Speer Hoots

August 18, 1926 — August 11, 2012

Yadkinville Mrs. Esteen Marie Speer Hoots, 85, went home to be with her Lord & Savior Saturday, August 11, 2012 after an extended illness. Mrs. Hoots was born August 18, 1926 in Yadkin County to Hubert and Parry Wooten Speer. She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Hoots received the Palmer School of Writing Certificate for her great penmanship. She worked at Bates Nightwear, Yadkin Nursing Center, and was known as the "Banana Lady" at Willowbrook Healthcare because of her weekly trips there to visit and give out fruit and bananas. Esteen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister and she loved her church family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hoots was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William "Bill" Hoots; four sisters; and one brother. She is survived by four children, Kathy Hoots (Wes) Conrad, Tim (Sherry) Hoots, Ed (Jeanette) Hoots, and Sherry Hoots (Dwight) Leftwich; eleven grandchildren, Karen Conrad (James) Stevens, Kim Hoots (Anthony) Bricolo, Kristi Hoots (Brandon) Shaffer, Nathan (Toffia) Hoots, Nic (Amy) Hoots, Tabitha Hoots (Kurt) Wiegers, Matt (Kelly) Hoots, Andrew Hoots, Jody (Miranda) Leftwich, Scottie Leftwich, and Samantha Leftwich (Kyle) Peterson; nineteen and two thirds great grandchildren; one sister, Vina Lee Tucker Hege; and two brothers, Henry Lewis (Beulah) Speer and Clarence (Ruby) Speer. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 5:00PM at Deep Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Page officiating. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Monday evening at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice, 1512 Shacktown Road Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Kathy Reece, Cindy Bullins of Mtn. Valley Hospice, and Pastor Rick Page for all the love, care, and support shown to them during this difficult time.
