Harold David Hayes

Hayes Yadkinville - Harold David Hayes, 80, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Palliative Care of Yadkin Valley Community Hospital. He was born December 27, 1931 in Yadkin County to the late Ellis David Hayes and Parlie Wilmoth Hayes. Harold was a lifelong member of Center United Methodist Church where he was a lay speaker, Sunday school teacher, choir member and sung in the Center Men's Chorus. He retired from Sara Lee after 43 years. He coached for several years at Yadkinville School for the little league and pony league baseball teams. Harold was a charter member of the Yadkin Country Club where he always enjoyed playing golf with all his friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Atkins Hayes; sisters, Cora Wagoner, Pauline Phillips, Ruby Redding, Lola Southard; brothers, Kenney Hayes, Lee Hayes, Lon Hayes, and Garvie Hayes. Surviving are his sons, Ricky (June) Hayes, Mark (Renee) Hayes; grandchildren, Haley (Jeff) Everett of Deep Gap, Dustin (Lindsey) Hayes of Kernersville; step grandchildren, Brittany Hodges, Nathanial Hodges; great grandchildren, Alyssa Everett, J.J. Everett; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 at Center United Methodist Church by the Rev. Andy Lambert, Rev. Rex Cranfill, and Dr. Bonnie Harris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to thank Davie Place Assisted Living, Mountain Valley Hospice, and Yadkin Valley Community Hospital for all the love and care shown to Harold.
