Jonesville Mrs. Mary Frances Evans Shaw, 77, saw the face of her precious Jesus and Lord God on August 29, 2012. Mrs. Shaw was born April 15, 1935 in Yadkin County to Richard and Hazel Kimmer Evans. She was retired from Hanes Sara Lee after 38 years. Mrs. Shaw was a lifelong member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and Sisters in Christ Sunday school class. She enjoyed teaching children in Sunday school, singing in the choir, WMU, and all church related functions. Some of her favorite activities were going with the seniors on special trips and taking care of her son Steve's dog, Jill. Mrs. Shaw had an eleven year battle with ovarian cancer. During this time, she grew fond of her doctor, Rolland J. Barrett and LeAnn Shaffner of Forsyth Cancer Center. This past year, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Through all the longsuffering, she never complained and always had a smile. She turned her battles over to the Lord. The most important thing to her was her personal Savior, then her family whom she loved and treasured dearly. Mrs. Shaw enjoyed cooking and caring for her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Glade Shaw; her first born son, Ronald Steven Shaw, and a brother-in-law, James F. Williams. Mary will be greatly missed by her family which includes her devoted son David Glade Shaw and wife Debbie, a wonderful daughter-in-law; her best friend and daughter, Debbie Shaw Cearley and husband Joe, who was always there for her; grandchildren, Dickie Shaw and wife Bridget, Will Shaw, Victoria Shaw, and Melody Barker; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Sid Barker; brothers, Verle Evans and wife JoAnn, Bill Evans and wife Lucy, Rayford Evans and wife Jettie, and Ronnie Evans and wife Dawn; one wonderful sister, Nannie Sue Williams; special aunts, Velma K. Wagoner and Colene K. Steelman; and all her devoted lifelong friends. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 12:00PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Stewart and Rev. Charlie Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WMU at Shady Grove, 3208 Center Rd, Boonville, NC 28642 or to The Baptist Children's Home PO Box 338 Thomasville, NC 27360. The family wishes to thank so many-too many to mention by name, for all the love, prayers, cards, phone calls and visits. A special thank you to the girls, (you all know who you are), 2nd floor of Hugh Chatham Hospital and the Hugh Chatham Rehab Center where she also met so many she loved and nurses Brenda and Beverly. "All good things do not come to an end if you know your personal savior, Jesus Christ."
