Gladys Caudle Barker

Barker East Bend- Mrs. Gladys Irene Blevins Caudle Barker, of East Bend passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at her home. She was born in Yadkin County on February 16, 1924 to the late Stevenson Ruth Blevins and Lilly Belle Hemric Blevins. Gladys graduated from Winston-Salem Beauty College. She owned and operated Gladys' Beauty Shop and Triple-T Shoe Store in Boonville, NC. She retired from Lucia, but worked after retirement at Wal-Mart as a greeter. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild, Pamela Denise Renegar; her sisters, Ola H. Turner, Kathleen Blevins Hudspeth; and her former spouse, Tom H. Caudle. She is survived by her children, Shelby Caudle (Jerry) Renegar, Betty Caudle Hamm, Tom H. (Anne) Caudle, Jr., Tina Caudle (Pete) Barber; grandchildren, Terry Renegar (Jeff) Matthews, Tracy Cook Lawrence, Kristen Barber (Aaron) Saunders, Lindsay Caudle (Lee) Flowers, Jonathan Dustin (Megan) Caudle, , and Sarah Kate Caudle; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Hazel Blevins Poplin, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church on Country Club Road in Winston-Salem. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Worship Center of Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Hal Finney and Rev. Steve Hardy. Burial will follow in Richmond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Boonville, NC. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Gladys may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1512 Shacktown Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Barker Family.
