Hamptonville Ms. Rickey Cheek Sidden, 64, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Ms. Sidden was born October 2, 1947 in Surry County to Lon and Sally Money Cheek. She was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as the church secretary. In addition to her parents, Ms. Sidden was preceded in death by three sisters, Aldean Leonard, Dixie Wolfe, and Avis Cheek; and two brothers, Click Cheek and Jake Cheek. She is survived by two daughters, Crystal (Bob) Bowers and Jill (Barry) Wiles; a step son, Glen (Crissy) Sidden; three granddaughters, Breanna and Bridget Bowers and Katelyn Wiles; two sisters, Maxine Thomasson and Brenda Cheek; one special "adopted" sister, Mary Ellen Chapman; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Cheek and Nan Cheek. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 3:00PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300 Rockville, MD 20852 or to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St. Alexandria, VA 22311. The family wishes to thank the Forsyth Medical Center ICU staff, Dr. Todd Greenwood, New Horizons staff, Nadine Gregory, Betty Williams, and Margaret Shore for all the love, care, and support they have given during this difficult time.
