Wilma Delores Wallace

August 9, 1961 — September 30, 2012

Wilma Delores Wallace was born on August 9, 1961 in Warrenton, North Carolina (Warren County) to Mrs. Cora Sales Wallace and the late Reverend Theodore Harrison Wallace. As a young woman she became a member of Rockfish A.M.E. Church and later a member of Clark Chapel in Barney Hill where she loved singing on the choir. She graduated from Starmount High School with many good friends. Nina Faye, Wilma Delores and Faye Allyson were inseparable not only were they first cousins but very close friends. They did everything together and always had to keep each other abreast of the latest dance steps and fashion tips. Wilma attended Surry Community College and then decided to further her studies by relocating to Philadelphia to pursue her studies as an artist at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. She found great peace with her easel and paints as she captured life and beauty at its finest. Wilma had many hobbies such as cooking, arts and crafts, and was a glamour girl, loving to dress to the nines with much style and flair. She was a community activist feeding the hungry, planting gardens for humanity, politically inclined with a strong stand on women issues, and voter's registration. With training, Wilma excelled in the medical field as a medical billing and coding technician. She found fulfillment in her career and for years always strived for excellence. In Wilma's early years she had three beautiful children; one daughter, Nina and two sons, Lanrae and Femi with Shegun Odulami. She loved her children dearly and always spoke highly of them and all of their accomplishments. In addition to her three children, she leaves to mourn, her mother, Mrs. Cora Lee Wallace; her three sisters, Minister Teresa Wallace, Evangelist Faye Wallace, and Miss Lillie Renay Wallace; one brother, Mr. Michael Wallace; one grandmother, Mrs. Nina Jane Sales; three aunts, one sister in law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 2:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Yadkinville. Burial will follow at Clarks Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service.
