Boonville Mr. Wade Martin Hobson, Sr., 84, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Hobson was born June 23, 1928 in Yadkin County to A.B. and Alice Moore Hobson. Wade always had farming in his blood. He was a breeder of show cattle and was awarded blue ribbons at many cattle shows. His pride and joy was picking a show prospect for a 4-H youth and the child winning grand champion at the state fair. Mr. Hobson served in the US Army during the Korean War. He also graduated from NC State University and Wake Forest Law School and worked as a tax preparer for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hobson was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Steelman Hobson; six brothers, Fred, George, Frank, Joe, Alvis, and Curtis; and three sisters, Anita Reece, Eloise Alexander, and Sadie Smitherman. He is survived by two children, LuAn Bartos and Wade Hobson, Jr.; one granddaughter, Ava Jane White; and a brother, J.R. Bobby (Ethel) Hobson. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2:00PM at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and Masonic Rites by Yadkin Lodge #162 A.F.& A.M. The family will receive friends following the burial.
