Ruth Blevins Hawks

Ruth B. Hawks celebrated her homecoming on Tuesday October 16, 2012. She was born January 8, 1928 in Hamptonville, NC to Jim and Mary Naomi Royall Blevins. She married her childhood sweetheart, Roy B. Hawks on February 16, 1946. She was a faithful, charter member of Gospel Way Baptist Church. She touched many lives through opening her home to everybody that needed a place. "And do not forget to do good and share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." Hebrews 13:16. Ruth retired from the dietary department of Hoots Memorial Hospital and became an in-home caregiver. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy, the love of her life and three brothers, Jack, Fred and Clayton. Ruth is survived by her children R.J. Hawks, Evon (Carl) Barnes, Judy (Gene) Cleary, Kathy (Eddie) Cave and Becky (Billy) Weatherman; eleven grandchildren Crystal (John) Keen, Nicky Hawks, Darold, Marty and Inga Reid, Scotty (Jennifer) Cleary, Mitzi (Jacob) Reavis, Samuel Bronson Hawks, Hannah Ruth Cave, Misty (Weston) Wallace and Amanda (Jason) Parsons, and fifteen great-grandchildren Nathan, Hayden, Nicholas, Jacob, Cassidy, Brianna, Grant, Lincoln, Anna, Harrison, Kate, Ada, Ellie, Delaney and Landry. Also surviving is a sister, Mary (Gib) Church as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend Arlene Niston. A celebration of life will be held 4:00 PM Saturday October 20, 2012 at Gentry Funeral Chapel by Rev. Doug Cothren and Rev. Dean Chandler. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Saturday October 20, 2012 before the service. Burial will follow at Gospel Way Baptist Church Cemetery. Mom loved the Lord and was looking to the day she would join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her beloved Roy.
