L. Q. Thomasson

June 22, 1927 — November 16, 2012

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather L.Q. Thomasson, 85, passed away Friday November 16, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Thomasson was born June 22, 1927 in Yadkin County to the late James Armstrong & Mary Belle Cash Thomasson. Mr. Thomasson was a retired Horticulture teacher who continued to teach throughout his life. Gardening was his lifelong passion. Mr. Thomasson served with the US Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Sam Thomasson, a grandson Jonathan Long, and nine brothers. Surviving is his beloved wife of 64 years Jean Parker Thomasson; a son Steve (Suzie) Thomasson, two daughters Carol (John) O'Neal, Linda Gale Laroussini; grandchildren Ben (Tracy) Thomasson, Andy (Andra) Thomasson, Elizabeth (Ezequiel) Cabezon, Johnny and Tommy Stinson, Samantha and Maggie Thomasson, Marc Laroussini; great-granddaughter Hillary Thomasson; a sister Martha Reid; a brother Charles Thomasson; two daughter in laws Janet Robbins and Holli Heck; many special nieces and nephews. A memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday November 18, 2012 at St. Paul United Methodist Church by Rev. Claudia Harrellson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends following the service. The family would like to say a very special thanks to the staff at Forsyth Medical Center for the loving care given to Mr. Thomasson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church 2616 Buck Shoals Road Hamptonville, NC 27020. Online condolences may be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
