John (Jake) Thomas Hobson

John Thomas (Jake) Hobson received his promotion to heaven Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 3:20 P.M. He was at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Hobson was born December 10, 1929 in Yadkin County to the late Thomas Leo and Annis Mikles Hobson. He was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville. Mr. Hobson was retired from R J Reynolds Archer. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Billy Wade Hobson and Rev. Doc Hobson. He has left behind a wife of 64 years, Ruth Davis Hobson; a daughter Sandra Hobson (Jerry) Miller; a son Mark Todd (Melissa) Hobson; 3 grandsons, Kip (April) Miller, Morgan Hobson and Matthew Pilcher; three great grandchildren Noah, Kaleb, and Eden Miller; two sisters Bernice Spillman, Joann (Milton) Sewell; a brother Lee (Wanda) Hobson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral service in Yadkinville. His funeral will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville by Rev. John Bowman and Rev. Bobby Watts. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in East Bend.
