Robert John Neely

Boonville Mr. Robert John Neely, 93, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Neely was born October 17, 1919 in Adena, Ohio to Robert and Elizabeth Hutton Neely. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Neely was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Elsie Albers Neely; two great grandchildren; one sister; and two brothers. He is survived by seven children, Brenda (Jerry) Wishon, Cheryl (Henry) Clutsam, Robert (Nancy) Neely, James Neely, Joyce (Charles) Bozzello, Jennifer Neely, Nancy (Kim) Davis; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one niece, Elizabeth Burrier. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1:00PM at Richmond Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Will Hamric officiating. Mr. Neely will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bob and Elsie Neely Upward Scholarship Fund, Richmond Hill Baptist Church, 2205 Richmond Hill Church Rd, Boonville, NC 27011. The family wishes to thank Brandon Holbrook for all the love, care and support shown to Mr. Neely. They would also like to thank the staff of Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care Unit for the great care given to him during this difficult time.
