Williams, b. May 17, 1930 Yadkinville - Luther Jackson "Jack" Williams was 82 years old when he died peacefully at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem on January 5th, 2013. He and his loving wife Carol retired and lived in Yadkinville, long home of the Williams family, after living in Myrtle Beach and Mt. Airy. He was the son of Luther R. and Susie (McCormick) Williams and brother to Kermit Clay Williams (Margaret) and Jessie Williams Vestal (Fred), also of Yadkinville. Jack served in the United States Army for 8 years and was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. His primary work was in automobile sales and he had a reputation for "knowing everyone" and being well-regarded by others. He loved time spent at the beach, playing with his pet Chihuahua and visits with his children and relatives. He loved his family and will be missed for his generosity, wise counsel, sense of humor, and patience with us all. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol and five children, Donald Jackson Williams, Kitty Williams, Steven Wayne Williams and Derrick Williams of Winston-Salem and Yadkinville and Alan Williams (Tonya) of Gray, Georgia. He has grandchildren to include Eric Williams of Kernersville, Kathryn Clark of Winston-Salem, and George and John (Carl) Williams and Hudson Brett of Gray, Georgia. There are four great grandchildren. His special friends are Tom Simmons and Ray Collins. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Pilot View Friends Meeting Church by the Rev. Gene Moser and the Rev. Nelson Puffenbargar. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
