Mrs. Eva Dorethea Martin Johnson, age 97 of West Main Street died February 3, 2013. She was born in Forsyth County to William R. and Eliza Long Martin July 15, 1915 near Tobaccoville, N.C. She grew up in the Tobaccoville Community and attended Old Richmond High School and was a graduate of the class of 1934. She married Charlie H. Johnson of East Bend in 1936 and moved there and lived the remainder of her life there except for a short time in Assisted Living at Reynolda Park. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, three sisters Della Martin Shamel, Alice Martin George, and Beulah Martin Shore; three brothers Arthur Martin, Grady Martin, and Paul Martin. Surviving are three sons Charlie H. Johnson, Jr. (Mary), Billy M. Johnson (Linda), John Franklin Johnson (Phyllis); a brother Roy W. Martin. Four grandchildren Marcia Johnson, Michael Johnson, Melody Harvey (Jay), Crystal Ridge (David); six great-grandchildren Morgan Johnson, Laurelyn Ridge, Tabatha, Jacob, Mary Faith, and Susanna Grace Harvey; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1-2 Pm Tuesday February 5, 2013 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday following the visitation in the Gentry Family Chapel officiated by Frank Johnson. Burial will follow at East Bend Baptist Church Cemetery.
