Brown East Bend - Carl "Toot" Brown, 84, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1928 in Yadkin County to the late Rufus King Brown and Carrie Hobson Brown. Toot and his brother Max Brown owned and worked at Toot and Max Garage. They were known for their honesty and trustworthy reputation for miles around. They also took pride in their work and enjoyed helping their friends and neighbors. Toot enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Forbush Friends Meeting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Raby Brown Douglas and Betty Brown Adams; brothers, Foster Brown, Austin Brown, Gilmer Brown, Glenn Brown, Hugh Brown, and Max Brown. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Mildred Matthews Brown; daughters, Vicki (David) Stephens and Mitzi (Benny) Hutchens; grandchildren, Valoree (Clay) Wingler, Melanie (James) Summerlin, Garrett Stephens; six great grandchildren which he adored. A service to celebrate his life will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at Forbush Friends Meeting by the Rev. Michael Thames and the Rev. David Stephens. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at Forbush Friends Meeting. The family would like to thank Shelba Brown and Kenny & Betsy Brown for their special friendship and ongoing love and support throughout his life. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Forsyth Medical Center and to Dr. Steven R. Klein for their outstanding support and care.
