Robert Lee (Bob) Gordon Sr. died unexpectedly Monday, February 11 of cardiac arrest at his home in Cary. He was a native of Yadkin County and served in the US Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. Bob was a 1961 graduate of the UNC Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy, president of his Fraternity, Phi Delta Ki, and was a member of the Rams Club. He was a registered pharmacist for 50 years and owned Gordon's Pharmacy in Cary until 1974. He retired in 1999 as the Director of the Food and Drug Protection Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture. He was also a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lora S. Gordon, his brother, Lloyd P. Gordon, and his daughter-in-law, Judith Gibson Gordon (wife of his son Lee). He is survived by his wife Sue Ratledge Gordon, of 59 years, his three children, Laura Gordon Stark, and husband Chris, Robert Lee Gordon, Jr. (Lee), Paul Gordon, and his grandchildren, Anna Claire Stark, Molly Lorine Gordon, and Randall Lee Gordon. Visitation will be held Friday, February 15 at Gentry Family Funeral Services in Yadkinville, NC from 6 pm to 8 pm. His funeral service will be in the chapel at Gentry Family Services on Saturday, February 16 at 1:00 pm by Rev. Dennis Conner. The burial will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery on Old US 421, East Bend, NC with Full Military Honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.
