Dixon East Bend- Mr. Harold Gray Dixon, 76, of Nebo Road passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born December 14, 1936 in Yadkin County to the late Godfrey and Della Spillman Dixon. Mr. Dixon was retired from Westinghouse in Winston-Salem, was a veteran of the US Army, and was an active member of Fall Creek Baptist Church where he served the church as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed playing golf and working in his garden. Mr. Dixon was a loving, devoted father and grandfather, and loved all the time he spent with his grandchildren and family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Parker Dixon; his son-in-law, David D. Absalom; and his brothers, James Dixon, Dewey "Bug" Dixon. Surviving are his beloved daughter, Lori D. Absalom, Rougemont; his loving granddaughters, Meahgan Gray Absalom and Rebecca Carver Absalom, both of the home; and several extended family, friends, and his church family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 in Yadkinville. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 25, 2013 at Fall Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Don Hudson, Rev. Larry Stone, and Rev. Barry Wall. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Fall Creek Baptist Church, 3380 Fall Creek Church Road, Jonesville, NC 28642 or to a charity of the donors choice.
