Vonnie Mae Vestal Parker Hicks, 86, passed away Saturday March 2, 2013 at Yadkin Valley Community Hospital. She was born December 21, 1926 in Yadkin County to the late James Elbert & Lora Pearl Douglas Vestal. Mrs. Hicks was a lifetime member of Charity Baptist Church. She was a very active volunteer for Yadkin Christian Ministries and she went on multiple mission trips. She graduated from Boonville High School and went to Surry Community College and got her LPN degree. She retired as an LPN Nurse from Yadkin County Health Department. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband A. W. Parker, 2nd husband Ervin Hicks, 3rd husband Jesse Pardue; daughter Norma Parker Shore; son Wilson Parker; step son J.W. Pardue; two sisters Kathleen V. LeSueur and Earline V. Matthews; a step brother Howard Vestal. Surviving are a son-in-law David (Cathy) Shore; a daughter-in-law Chris Parker; step sister Jean (Larry) Keller; brother-in-law Junior Matthews; step children Cathy (Joe) Comer, Mickey (Susan) Hicks, Novella Pardue, Martha (Tommy) Vestal; grandchildren Lora Parker, April (Kent) Wooten, Bradley (Amanda) Shore, Stuart Shore, Susan Shore; great grandchildren Bridget Nance, Katlyn Wooten, Chandler Wooten, Annabelle Shore, Darren Shore, Parker Shore, Elliott Shore; several nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday March 4, 2013 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday March 5, 2013 at Charity Baptist Church by Rev. Eddy Driver, Rev. Tommy Vestal, and Rev. Terry Green. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
