Arvil McKinley Swaim

Hamptonville Mr. Arvil McKinley Swaim, 85, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Swaim was born January 31, 1928 in Yadkin County to Richard and Ethel Sale Swaim. He was a faithful member of Swan Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Swaim was an avid softball player and hunter. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. Mr. Swaim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruby Harris Swaim; a daughter, Janet (Gray) Kimbrough; a granddaughter, Julie (Shawn) Cheek; seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Meagan, Elizabeth, Samuel, Hannah, Rebekah, and James Cheek; two sisters, Maxine Tuttle and Betty Hemric; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 11:00AM at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Wilburn and Rev. Evan Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at Gentry Funeral Service in Jonesville from 6:30 to 8:30PM.
