Vera Elizabeth Grooms

Grooms North Redington Beach, Fla. - Mrs. Vera Elizabeth "Liz" Wyrick Grooms, 42, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 at her home. She was born November 22, 1970 in Forsyth County. Mrs. Grooms was a loving, devoted wife and mother. She loved animals, helping people and the outdoors. In her life, she had been a military wife, hair salon owner, jet ski rental business owner, landlord, skydiver, motorcycle racer, scuba diver and snow skier. She had traveled throughout the U.S., Mediterranean and Caribbean. Surviving are her beloved husband, Ray Grooms of the home; her infant son, Noah Andrew Grooms; step-daughter, Laken Nichole Hamby; her father, Glen Alden "Dickie" Messick, and step-mother, Fran Messick of Clemmons; four half-sisters, Luanne Cardwell, Tammy Messick Medford, Melissa Gentry, and husband, David; Tabitha Hannah; Aunt Linda Smith; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Tim Gammons. Burial will follow in Crestview cemetery.
