Katie Etta Cranfill Douglas

Katie Etta Cranfill Douglas, 88, passed away Thursday March 14, 2013 at Yadkin Nursing Center. She was born July 16, 1924 in Surry County to the late David Manliss and Lucinda Doss Cranfill. Mrs. Douglas was a member of Courtney Baptist Church. Mrs. Douglas was a wonderful mother, grandmother, homemaker who was a wonderful caregiver to her husband, a good seamstress, and a wonderful cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years James Anderson Douglas, one sister and five brothers. Surviving are her children Frances (Bobby) Shore, Jane (Brian) Willard, Roy (Nell) Douglas, Tim Douglas (Lynne Stamper); grandchildren Scott Shore, Trent Shore, Felicia Leonard, Jody Willard, Keith Willard, Blake Cline, Matthew Douglas, and Amanda Martin; eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Sunday March 17, 2013 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday march 17, 2013 at Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Bill Hale. Burial will follow at Courtney Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to say a special thanks to Wanda Cockerham and the staff at Yadkin Nursing Center, Dr. Ziglar, Hospice and Palliative Care, and all the special people and churches who came and visited Mrs. Douglas.
