Toras Dennis Waloven

Elkin Mr. Toras Dennis Waloven, 74, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013. Mr. Waloven was born July 4, 1938 in Oswego County, NY to Toras and Mary Collette Waloven. He served in the US Army and served as a minister for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Waloven was preceded in death by two sons, Toras James Waloven and Joseph Robert Waloven; two great grandchildren, Christopher Daniel Harper and Kayleigh Waloven; two sisters, Betty Miller and Jane Mary Waloven; and two brothers, William Waloven and Edward Waloven. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sandra Ritchie Waloven; five children, Bonnie (Rick) Walden, Dennis Waloven, Michael Waloven, Tim (Melisa) Waloven, and Andy (Velvet) Waloven; nineteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, with the twelfth coming in May; one sister, Mary Jane Harrison; and one brother, Richard (Helen) Dennison. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 2:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Jonesville with Rev. Sandra Waloven, Tim Waloven, Rev. Jerry Ireland, and Rev. David Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Yadkinville Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 10346.. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice for all the love, care and support shown to Mr. Waloven during his illness.
