Dinkins Yadkinville- Mr. James Allen Dinkins, 87, of Courtney Huntsville road passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Yadkin Nursing Center. He was born April 15, 1925 in Yadkin County to the late James "Jimmy" and Mary Whitlock Dinkins. Mr. Dinkins was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army in the 3rd Battalion, 110th Infantry Division throughout Central Europe. He was a faithful member of Turners Creek Baptist Church where he served the church as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon and Usher for several years. Mr. Dinkins was retired from Hanes Hoisery, worked several years as a farmer, and worked with Buck and Wallace Hutchens Construction for several years. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Opal Dinkins, Pearl Dinkins, Dolly Dinkins; and by his brothers, Paul Dinkins, Willie "Tom" Dinkins, and John Dinkins. Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Helen Hutchens Dinkins; 2 children, Randy (Rose) Dinkins, Robin (Greg) Quinn, all of Yadkinville; 4 granddaughters, Charity Quinn, Zoe Marie Cline, Sarah Dinkins, Meredith Dinkins; 4 great-grandchildren; his sister, Rachel Smitherman, Lewisville; and a special niece, Margaret Ann Spillman. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday April 9, 2013 at Turners Creek Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Scott Welch and Full Military Honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.
