Ray Allen Ireland Hamptonville November 21, 1920 - May 5, 2013 Ray Allen Ireland of Hamptonville died Sunday, May 5, 2013 at his home. Ray was born on November 21, 1920 to C.W. and Pearl Allen Ireland. He married the love of his life, Laura Mae Haynes on February 7, 1942. Ray served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant Technician in the 70th Division, 15th Infantry, 1st Battalion, Headquarters Company, and was a life member of Yadkin VFW Post 10346 Memorial Honor Guard. In addition to his parents and wife, Ray was preceded in death by brothers: J.W., Claude, and George Ireland; and sisters: Eva Greenwood and Iva Gough. Ray is survived by children Donnie Ireland and Brenda (Dale) Pardue, grandchildren: Suzanne Ireland of Glasgow, KY; Beth Ireland; Matt (Kelly) Pardue of Statesville; and April (Jerad) Hanlon of Richmond, VA; great grandchildren: Bo, Laura, and Ada McDaniel of Glasgow, KY; John, Jack, and Anna McCormick; Elam and Sadie Pardue of Statesville; sister Annie Pearl (Delmar) Groce of Boonville; brother Charles Gray (Jo) Ireland of Jonesville; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Ann Jordan of Statesville. Memorials may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267, Yadkinville 27055 or Flat Rock Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 267, Hamptonville, 27020. Visitation will be at Flat Rock Baptist Church at 1:00 PM Monday, May 6 followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in the Flat Rock Church Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Erlandson and the staff of Foothills Family Medicine of Elkin.
