Madie Brown Atkins

Atkins Yadkinville - Madie "Dovie" Brown Atkins, 89, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Yadkin Nursing Care Center. She was born September 24, 1923 in Yadkin County to the late Otta Columbus Brown and Mollie Mae Martin Brown. She was a member of North Oak Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fordie Lee Atkins; an infant son; sister, Jesse Ruth Brannon; brothers, Dwayne Brown, Kenneth Brown. Surviving are her sons, Rick (Tena) Carter, Tony (Janet) Carter; step-son, Michael (Brenda) Atkins; grandchildren, Tanya (Nancy) Carter-Reichle, Jason Atkins, Seth (Tiffany) Marion, Angel (Dennis) Deno, Amy Blevins; great grandchildren, Carmen, Maria, Atreau, Phoenix, Jonathan, Henry, Jacob, Noble; sister, Carol Brown; special niece, Frances (Guy) Fisher; several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Jamie Wood and Dr. Bonnie Preston Harris. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to thank Yadkin Nursing Care Center and Mountain Valley Hospice for all the love and care that was shown to Dovie.
