James Johnson Williams

Williams Yadkinville - James "Jim" Johnson Williams, 76, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013. He was born December 10, 1936 in Yadkin County to the late James Hebert Williams and Pattie Johnson Williams. Jim was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend to many. He was a community pillar who did selfless service in our community and surrounding areas. Jim was a graduate from Yadkinville High School in 1955, and then graduated from Davidson College where he was the President of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne and retired as a Captain. Jim was a long time member of Yadkinville United Methodist Church, where he served on several committees and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a co-owner of James Williams Printing Co, Inc. in Yadkinville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Linda Jester Williams; sister, Kathryn Williams Hege; great granddaughter, Ava Madison Short; step-son, David McCormick. Surviving are his wife, Betty McCormick Williams; children, Paul Williams, Beth (Volker) Mueller, Stefanie (David) Prince, James Lee Williams; step-children, Darrell McCormick, Scott (Jill) McCormick; grandchildren, Amanda Williams, Caroline Mueller, Henry Mueller, Luke Prince, and Jacob Prince; step-grandchildren, Emmit McCormick, Olivia McCormick, Matthew McCormick, Charly McCormick, and John McCormick, Anna McCormick, Jack McCormick, their mother, Beth Ireland; brother, Sam (Kathy) Williams. His funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Yadkinville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Oliver Helsabeck. Burial will follow at Yadkinville Cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
