Gertie Cook Weatherman

Jonesville Mrs. Gertie Mae Cook Weatherman, 97, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Weatherman was born April 28, 1916 in Yadkin County to Marvin and Clara Adams Cook. She was an avid gardener and loved to bake her delicious cakes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Weatherman was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clay Weatherman; two sisters, Violet Doss and Magdalene Gilley; and four brothers, William, Garvey, Junior, and Jimmy Lee Cook. She is survived by her two sons, Clay (Linda) Weatherman and J.D. Weatherman; three grandchildren, Michael (Pat) Weatherman, Bryan (Kim) Weatherman, and Beverly Harrell; six great grandchildren, John and Dereck Weatherman, Heather and Kayla Harrell, and Megan and Lakyn Stewart; one sister, Clara Mae Gilley; one brother, Buel Cook; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 3:00PM at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Nat Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice for all the love, care, and support shown to Mrs. Weatherman during her illness.
