Virginia Norman Woodruff

Woodruff Boonville - Mrs. Virginia Norman Woodruff, 91, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin. She was born August 26, 1921 in Yadkin County to the late Jim and Beulah Spainhour Norman. Mrs. Woodruff was a member of Boonville Baptist Church and was retired from Spainhour's Department Store. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Willie "Sam" Warren Woodruff on January 11, 2011; her son, Sammy Warren Woodruff; 2 sisters,and 2 brothers. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Ross and husband, Tom, Norma Phillips and husband, Sam; grandchildren, Jennifer Pearsall and husband, David; Jay Wallace and wife, Allison; 5 great-grandchildren, Woodruff, Sawyer, and Sampson Pearsall, Anna and Jack Wallace; 2 sisters, Betty and Bertha; a brother, Gus; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service for the family will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 13, 2013 in Boonville Cemetery by Rev. John Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center and Dr. Tamas Soos for all their loving care shown to Mrs. Woodruff.
