Wayne E. Johnson

Johnson Yadkinville- Mr. Wayne E. Johnson, 77, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at his home. He was born September 4, 1935 in Wilkes County to the late John Wesley and Jettie Magnolia Moore Johnson. Mr. Johnson was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, and enjoyed farming. He loved his Bluegrass Music and especially loved his Wednesday night Jam Sessions that he attended. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon Johnson, Lawrence Johnson, Ernie Johnson, Rubean Johnson; sisters, Grace Johnson, Mae Privette, and Oma Marlowe. Surviving are his beloved wife that he married on June 8, 1959, Margetta Ellen Harrold Johnson, who survives of the home. Also surviving are his sons, David Wayne (Angie) Johnson, James Wesley (Judy) Johnson; daughters, Janice (Kenny) Gregory, Peggie (Joe) Cook; Grandchildren, Josh Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Stephanie (Neal) Gragg, Alan Southern, Leslie (Bryan) Howe, Clay Gregory, Kayla Cook; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, John A. Johnson; 2 sisters, Audrey Jennings and Vivian Combs. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Monday, July 1, 2013 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Bill Hale. Burial will follow in the Lewis Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilkes County with a graveside service by Rev. Bruce Rhodes.
