Gurtha Brown Steelman

Boonville Mrs. Gurtha Mae Brown Steelman, 90, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at Elkin Healthcare. Mrs. Steelman was born June 2, 1923 in Yadkin County to Richard and Ruth Moxley Brown. She was a member of North Oak Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Steelman was preceded in death by her husband, Warner Hardin Steelman; and two sisters, Lou Ray Brown Mathis and Nancy Ann Brown Hutchens. She is survived by two children, Randy (Elizabeth) Steelman and Kathy (Dean) Wood; three grandchildren, JoAnn (Todd) Norman, Deanna Wood, and Dillon Hunter; two great grandchildren, Shea and Jack Triplett; one sister, Linda (Ben) Silvers; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 3:00PM at North Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Link, Rev. Perry Link, and Rev. John Altizer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family wishes to thank the staff of Elkin Healthcare and Mtn. Valley Hospice for all the love, care, and support shown to Mrs. Steelman.
