Vera Lineberry Davis

Vera Lineberry Davis, 92, passed away Saturday July 13, 2013 at Woltz Hospice Home. She was born September 21, 1920 to the late Gurney and Lora Matthews Lineberry. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John C. "Red" Davis, a daughter Kathy Thomas, two son-in-laws Alvin Lee Starling, Mike Haigwood, three sisters Minnie Matthews, Emma Jean Anderson, Plumer Lineberry; four brothers Lester, Clark, Ervin, and Guy Lineberry. Surviving are her son J. C. (Diane) Davis, Jr., daughters Peggy Lou Davis, Barbara Starling (Fiancée Howard Holcomb), Judy (Henry) Bowman, Linda (Terry) Lord, Regina (Greg) Hardy; grandchildren Diane (Perry) Edwards, Johnny (Sandy) Starling, Teresa Bolen, Lorinda Murphy, Donna (Ken) Ulrich, Julia (Charlie) Jones, Valerie (Scott) Kiger, Amanda (Eric) Norman, Tabitha (Ken) Kavalew, Megan (Davin) Frankosky, John Hardy (Fiancée Amanda Crutchfield); seventeen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers Jackie Lineberry and Richard (Jane) Lineberry. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Pm Tuesday July 16, 2013 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Brian Chilton and Rev. Brian Poindexter. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family would like to say a very special thanks to Howard Holcomb, caregivers Crissy Sawyer, Crystal Hunter, Joan Hutchens, and the Staff of Mountain Valley hospice for all the loving care given to Mrs. Davis.
