Mary Boyd Benge

Elkin Mrs. Mary Alice Boyd Benge, 64, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Benge was born November 29, 1948 in Surry County to Luther Beamer and Rosa Pinnix Boyd. She was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Benge was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Clore and Helen Laster; and three brothers, Joe Boyd, Thomas Boyd, and Jay Boyd. She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years and 10 months, Kenneth Ray Benge; two children, Robert Anthony Rhodes and Crystal G. Alexander; two grandchildren, Sarah Michelle Rhodes and Alyssa Nicole Rhodes; one sister, Frankie Boyd Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 6:30PM at Peace Haven Baptist Church with Rev. George Evans, Rev. Jon Bowman, and Rev. Mark Lenderman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice for all the love, care, and support shown to Mrs. Benge during this difficult time.
