Newsome Yadkinville- Mr. James "Doug" Newsome, 79, of Styers Mill Road passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Willowbrook Healthcare Center in Yadkinville. He was born November 4, 1933 in Forsyth County to the late Cable and Eleanora Newsome. Mr. Newsome was retired from McLean's Trucking Company with several years of service. He loved sports, and was an avid New York Yankees and Duke Blue Devils fan. Mr. Newsome enjoyed going to the Flea Market and spending time with his "Flea Market Family". The greatest love was for his family, in which he was a loving, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather to all of them. He cherished the time he was able to spend with each of them. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and a grandson. Surviving are his daughters, Debbie (Billy) Michaels, Yadkinville; Vicky Stone, Iron Station; a son, James Douglas (Robin) Newsome, Jr., King; a sister, Hazel Cheek, State Road; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A private graveside service will follow the visitation on Saturday at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston-Salem.
