Groce Hamptonville- Mr. Olin Leon "Bud" Groce, 90, passed away Friday, September 06, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 27, 1923 in Yadkin county to the late Noah and Hattie Groce. Mr. Groce was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy with the Seabees. He was a charter member of West Yadkin Volunteer Fire Department, and was employed with Huff Funeral Home in East Bend, Boonville, and Jonesville for several years. "Bud" as he was lovingly known to friends and family, was a faithful member of Marler Road Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Groce, Thomas Groce, Clayton Groce; and sisters, Pauline Groce, Vera Stanley. Surviving are his devoted wife of over 66 years, Frances Bryant Groce, of the home; his loving children, Gary Groce and wife, Elaine; Sandy Martin, and husband, Dennis; Randy Groce, and wife, Vicki; Bruce Groce, and wife, Holly; his special Grandchildren, Jill McQueen, Amber Thutt, and husband, Ed, Allen Groce, and fiance', Gina Holder, Brett Groce, April Groce; great-grandchildren, Andrew Roden, Morgan Thutt, Carson Thutt; Sister, Imogene Wilhelm, and husband, Joe; and sister-in-law, Edith Groce. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. His funeral service will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Marler Road Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Roger Groce. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.
