Edwin Transou Parker

Edwin Transou Parker, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 16, 2013, with his family by his side. Edwin was born on November 15, 1922 to Vance and Fallie Douglas Hauser. His mother died when Edwin was only four weeks old. Edwin's Aunt and Uncle, Julius and Jellie Parker, adopted and raised him. During Edwin's early years during The Depression, he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Blackrock, Utah. Like so many other young men during World War II, Edwin volunteered for service to his country proudly serving in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. The last ship he served on was the LST USS Romulus. After returning home, he met the love of his life, Vermel Bryant, and they were married 62 years until her passing in December 2009. He was a loving and caring father and husband. Edwin was a self-employed Brick Mason/Carpenter for most of his life. He also worked for E. L. Wooten Construction Company. He retired at the age of 80 from Royster Company. He loved gardening, woodworking, and his pets. He maintained the Hauser Family Cemetery on Highway 601 in Yadkinville for over 70 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Leslie Hauser, Clyde Hauser, Luther Parker, Andrew Parker, and Woodrow Parker; three sisters: Adeline Trivette, Mary Stafford, and Lucy Brown. Edwin leaves behind two sons: Terry Bryant Parker and wife ShaRee H. Parker of Yadkinville; Charles Edwin Parker of Yadkinville; two grandchildren: Shannon Gavin and husband Lee, and Sherri Parker; five great-grandchildren: Kaylee Gavin, Caden Gavin, Mattie Gavin, Dyson Bell, and Shalyn Bell; a special nephew: W. C. Hauser of Yadkinville, and three special sisters-in-law: Betty Dean Branon, Kate Hutchens, and Lois Hutchens, all of Yadkinville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, NC. A graveside service with full military honors by the VFW Post 10346 and the NC National Guard will be held at the Hauser Family Cemetery on Highway 601 in Yadkinville on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Dennis Shaw officiating. The Parker family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Yadkin Valley Community Hospital and Forsyth Medical Center - ICU and Palliative Care. We would also like to thank the staff at Yadkin Nursing Center for the care they provided. Special thanks are also given to Ruth Shore, special caregiver. The Parker family expresses appreciation to the YVEDDI Meals on Wheels Program and to all of the volunteer drivers who delivered meals to Edwin for several years.
