Hamptonville Mr. Phelix Monroe Swaim, 91, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at his home. Mr. Swaim was born July 12, 1922 in Yadkin County to Harvey and Leona Redding Swaim. He was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church. He served in the US Army during World War II and later retired from Hanes Hosiery. Mr. Swaim enjoyed beekeeping and fishing in his spare time. In addition to his parents, Mr. Swaim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline Foster Swaim; and one brother, Harvey Swaim, Jr. He is survived by two children, Patsy Alene Flynn and Lee (Julie) Swaim; four grandchildren, Audra (Barry) Coleman, Joseph (Tamara) Rook, Cynthia (Joey) Medina, and David (Jacqueline) Flynn; and four great grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan, Paige, and Matt. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00AM at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Kurt Kissinger officiating. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by NC National Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 at Gentry Funeral Service in Jonesville.
