Linney S. Shore

Hamptonville Mr. Linney S. Shore, 91, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Shore was born June 26, 1922 in Yadkin County to French and Maggie Reynolds Shore. He was a member of Mtn. View Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during WWII. Mr. Shore enjoyed playing Bingo at Yadkin Nursing Center with all of his friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shore was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Vickers Shore; one sister, Flora Phillips; and four brothers, Ray, Fonzo, Ford, and Raymond Shore. He is survived by two daughters, Libby (Ricky) Snow and Diana Owens; three grandchildren, Heather Owens, Whitney (Greg) Mathis, and Ryan (Ashley) Owens; two great grandchildren, Alexis and Braylon Owens; twin brothers, Herbert (Polly) Shore and Hobert Shore; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 1:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Tim Tucker and Rev. Greg Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and NC National Guard. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Yadkin VFW Post 10346, 14509 Elkin Hwy 268 Ronda, NC 28670 or to the Mtn. View Baptist Church Building Fund, 1232 Mountain View Church Rd Hamptonville, NC 27020.
