Yadkinville Mrs. Gladys Spann Cook, 95, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Cook was born August 22, 1918 in Yadkin County to Charlie and Martha Martin Spann. She was a member of South Oak Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lester Cook; three sisters, Selma Martin, Oma Mook, and Florence Pruitt; two brothers, Frank Spann and Lee Spann; and a son-in-law, Tommy Macemore. She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia (U.E.) Martin and Blenda Macemore; four grandchildren, Tommy (Bonnie) Macemore, David (Angela) Martin, Doug (Debbie) Martin, and Dana (Ronald) Quesinberry; eleven great grandchildren, Joshua Martin, Taylor Martin, Brittany Martin, Crystal Miller, Amanda (Nathan) Brown, Charles Macemore, Tori Martin, Chelsea Kemp, and Kord, Kacyn, and Kolton Quesinberry; three great-great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Bailey Anna, and Kaitlyn; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00PM at South Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Phil Beavers and Rev. Chris Hauser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267 Yadkinville NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Peggy Shore, Cindy Bullins, and Karen with Mtn. Valley Hospice and Opal Plowman for all the love, care, and support shown to Mrs. Cook.
